Manager, Ben Smith, had this to say:
“It’s always the sad part of the game seeing players move on but for both of them, we understand the reasons behind their decisions. Sam has had an awful long time out and needs game time to complete his return. His work ethic has been first class and this has meant he is ready a lot quicker than we had expected and competition for places is strong in that area. After so long out, it’s not right for us to ask him to be patient regardless of my views on the player's ability”.

On Simon’s departure, “It’s a shame for Simon, and for us as he has a lot of potential which you could see when he returned for dual reg last season. Unfortunately, he has been a victim of the consistency of Ryan Cooper. At 21 Simon realises he needs to get more guaranteed minutes to continue his progression”.
