Herne Bay Ladies tightened their grip on Division One (East), writes Peter Guise, with this demolition of Faversham Strike Force whilst having the luxury of resting several key players and giving a debut to Rosie Hague who came off the bench for her first appearance. Bay bulged the net seven times before the break, two of them came from Lucy Page, solid in central defence, and potent up front. Her second was a stunning strike. Jemma Barton secured a hat-trick (plus one) to become the latest recipient of an engraved commemorative glass. After the break, the collective foot came off the pedal, allowing Faversham back into the game, an act that stunned Bay back into action. The performance was made the better for taking into account the horrendous swirling wind, the frequent squally showers of rain, sleet and snow, the low temperature and the bobbly pitch. But these are all things that need to be mastered on the road back to the Premier Division.
"It was a terrific performance and a great result", said assistant manager Graham Miller, "there were so many good performances out there today in terrible conditions".
