Going into Christmas Faversham Town were safely in mid-table but since then they have had just the one win (at home to Chichester City). Bay are on a run of four undefeated league matches against the Lilywhites with the last loss coming on 02/01/2017. Both sides have drawn three out of their last 10 games, but there the comparison ends with Bay winning six and losing one of the remaining seven with Faversham having lost six and won one. Faversham sit in 17th place (four off the bottom) and are 12 positions and 21 points behind Herne Bay.
Ben Smith: “Another Kent derby against Faversham on Tuesday. Other than the very top two or three, they don’t come harder than the Kent derbies, so we have to dust ourselves off and make sure that we get fit, healthy bodies out on the pitch ready for a very long 90 minutes. We can’t go there with any more belief than we have at the moment, so we need to take that and channel it in the right way. They have some good players at Faversham, and I have a lot of respect for their management team, it will be a tough one. Faversham have not had the best of times over the last couple of seasons. But (for them), it’s that factor of ‘Can we stop them’? We need to guard against that. But I love the fact that we are talking about things like this. When I was last here as a coach, we were hoping to go to places like Faversham and get a point. Now, it’s the other way around.”
