A very disappointing day; everybody expecting three points to be gained but Molesey turned out to be a much more resilient side than their form suggested. Coupled with this our lowest Saturday home crowd of the season. The only consolation was that the teams above us all dropped points .
As to the game itself despite only recording one win in the last 6 league fixtures Molesey showed that no matter where a team sits in the table there is no easy game in this league.
Molesey were very good value for the point as they worked tirelessly throughout the game. If their shooting had been better it may well have been a totally different story but as it turned out Ben Hunter was only called in once to pull off one save of any note.
In the first half they dominated the play but lacklustre shooting and dogged defensive play from Bay ensured the half closed all even. Bay had one real chance in the half when Jake Embery ‘s volley from 8 yards out was tipped onto the bar by Moles keeper , Liam Allen.
Bay came more in the game in the second half as the visitors visibly tired. Nassim Dukali was always a threat as the moles were called into a rearguard action of their own. Allen in their goal had a particularly good game pulling off a couple of fine saves in the latter stages of the game. One reflex save in particular he managed to get his fingers to Jono Richardson’s glancing header to turn it around the post when it looked to be a certain goal.
At the end of the day a point is better than nothing but the draw did mean our long ‘draw-less’ run came to an end. This being our first since the 2-2 draw with Ramsgate at the end of last season and our first in this seasons league campaign.
A special mention to Mohamed Kamara who had an outstanding debut in the back four.
