Playing for the first time in their yellow away kit sponsored by Seriously Bookeeping, Herne Bay U14s got themselves a fantastic 6-1 win against Leos U14 in the Faversham District Youth League on Saturday.
In blustery conditions, Herne Bay FC were caught napping within the first few minutes and found themselves a goal down. The boys responded fantastically and soon got themselves level with Gabriel taking his opportunity in a busy penalty box.
With the wind, we bombarded Leo’s keeper with very difficult balls to deal with which he did well.
However the pressure paid off and Oliver Hills got his first goal for Herne Bay since joining in the summer and our second goal of the match to put us in front with a nice swivel finish.
Herne Bay’s dominance was paying off even more and we soon went 3 and 4-1 up with two more goals from Gabriel completing a brilliant first half hat trick.
Half time came and we talked about how they will come at us with the wind and slope in their favour but we went out and defended superbly.
We got further rewards through good football with Jackson Saunders getting a left foot goal and Billy Spinks tucking away neatly having been put through one on one with their goalkeeper.
A fantastic performance from everyone with POTM very difficult to choose but went to Connor just ahead of Gabriel for doing the job we asked him to do in the middle, chasing down everything, heading, tackling and playing some very nice passes and through balls.
