Herne Bay Match Report

13s KYL Herne Bay 9-1 Baypoint (A)

On Sunday, 16th November 2025, Herne Bay FC U13 travelled to Sandwich to face Baypoint FC U13 in a Kent Youth League fixture. The weather conditions were challenging, with persistent rain throughout the day. Herne Bay were without Michael Allen and PJ Hodgson due to injury, reducing the squad to 13 players. As a result, Max Scott-Barker and Ellison Gashi began the match on the substitutes’ bench.
The match kicked off at 10:00. Herne Bay started strongly, implementing a high pressing approach that left Baypoint little time on the ball. Early in the game, some great passing from Finley and Harry sets up Herne Bay’s top scorer, number 7, Jeremiah Chibuye, who produced a high lobbed shot over the goalkeeper to open the scoring at 1-0.
Shortly after, Herne Bay suffered a setback when Issac Collier was forced off with an injury, leading to Ellison Gashi entering the match. Despite this, Herne Bay maintained their momentum. Gene Zacharia latches onto a through ball and slots home for 2-0 half-time. The first half was officiated fairly and competently, contributing to the flow of the game. Notably, the crowd remained subdued in accordance with Silent Weekend guidelines.
The second half began much like the first, with Herne Bay full of confidence and attacking intent. Gene puts pressure on the Baypoint defence which leads to a defensive error, resulting in an own goal and an 3-0 advantage. Brayden Perrett added to the tally with an excellent low strike for 4-0. Shortly afterwards, Elijah Okeledele scored a remarkable goal from 20 yards out to make it 5-0.
As the match progressed, Elijah Okeldele was substituted for Max Scott-Barker for the final 15 minutes. Max made an immediate impact, latching onto a through ball from Issac, nutmegging the goalkeeper, hitting the post, and scoring his first goal for Herne Bay, bringing the score to 6-0.
Joey Burt gets on in the act with an interception and a 30 yard screamer 7-0 to the bay!
With 10 minutes to go, Jeremiah was fouled in the box, earning a penalty for Herne Bay. Number 4, Oscar Knowles, confidently converted the spot-kick to make it 8-0 his first goal for the bay.
The team’s appetite for goals continued. A cross into the box was expertly controlled by Max, setting up Harry, who executed a lovely roulette dribbling through Baypoint’s defence before slotting home the ninth goal.
In the closing moments, Baypoint managed a consolation goal from the penalty spot, denying Harry Cooper and Herne Bay a clean sheet.
Herne Bay’s emphatic 9-1 victory was the result of excellent teamwork and individual brilliance. Brayden Perrett earned the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance and control in midfield. Special mention also goes to Finley Harris, who worked tirelessly alongside Brayden throughout the encounter.
