Sunday 24th November, 3rd round cup tie against Chatham at the Crest Stadium on a very windy day.

This is a team we lost away to early on in the season, 5-1 at their ground. So we knew today would be tough.

The game started slowly, neither team creating many chances.

15 mins in Ferdi fed Jack on the right who played through Zac, who unselfishly squared it to Barnaby who was denied by the keepers legs.

Henry who was really dominating in midfield, made an important block a couple of minutes later to deny an inevitable goal for Chatham.

After a nice passage of play, Juliani found Zac in the box who once again showed why he has been so important for us this season in terms of goals, calmly stroking the ball into the bottom corner 1-0.

On the stroke of half time.Will looked to sweep up a long ball, but as he came to meet it, it bounced under his foot and the Chatham striker ran through to tuck the ball home 1-1 HT

Chatham came out the stronger team in the 2nd half dominating possession. We were slow to move the ball and sloppy in possession.

However we managed to hold on, and after a great individual run from Juliani down the left and a great cross, Ashdon converted from 6 yards 2-1

2 mins later a looping shot from wide on the left by Chatham caught by the wind went over Will and into the far top corner 2-2 .

A free kick from the half way line found Barnaby at the back post whose strike went narrowly over the bar.

Will made two good saves late on to take us to penalties.

Unfortunately the boys lost 5-4 on pens.

Lots of positives to take away from today and learning points also. We weren't at our best but we still competed against a good side.
