Bay 16s put in a brilliant display and take the win

After last weeks poor performance, the boys needed to bounce back to restore some confidence.

However, we were faced with a big strong Holland and Blair side who were so far unbeaten in the league and only conceded 1 goal before this game, so this was by no means an easy test. With Jack Omans deservedly called up to the Under 18s, today was going to be even trickier.

The boys were clearly up for it and started on the front foot.

15 minutes into the game, Juliani picked up the ball on the edge of the box, cut in on his right foot, and curled the ball into the far top corner. Top class finish ?

5 minutes later, some good work by Anton up top finding Barnaby, sending him through on goal, Barnaby did everything right but was denied by their keeper.

Holland’s and Blair kept probing, and Will was forced to make a good triple save to deny them an equaliser inside the box.

Holland’s and Blair came close again on 35 mins, their striker being slipped through 1 on 1 only to get denied by the legs of Will.

On the stroke of half time, some good work by Barnaby found Zac through on goal, but he was brought down on the edge of the box. Free kick and a yellow. Zac stepped up for the free kick, but his effort was denied by the wall

Half time 1-0 a really solid first half display.

Ashdon came close early in the 2nd half after some good work cutting in from wide only to be denied by the keeper.

Charlie, Ollie, Owen, and Ethan were solid in defence in the first half and continued to deny Holland’s and Blair in the 2nd half with some brilliant defensive displays.

Anton was brought back on mid way through the 2nd half, making an immediate impact sending Juliani through who brushed off the defender and slotted past the keeper, making it look really easy. 2 nil.

Holland’s and Blair scored against the run of play,
Owen attempted to clear a loose ball in the 6 yard box, which rebounded of the back of Charlie’s leg and past Will 2-1

The boys kept probing all the way to the final whistle.

The midfield Henry, Tommy, and Camron worked hard to help out the defence to maintain the lead.

Overall, it was a fantastic performance off the back off a bad display last week. That's the level the boys need to be at each week to do well in this league.

Onto another tough test next week. Away at Faversham Town in the cup
