After last weeks performance the boys were full of confidence knowing that if they apply themselves they can compete with anyone in the league.
Today we faced a Faversham side in the Cup that were also in our league and one of the favourite's to top the league after dominating recent seasons and recruiting a lot of players from Medway over the summer.
The boys started on the front foot Barnaby Grace sliding Juliani through on goal who rounded the keeper and from a tight angle saw his shot hit the side netting.
Faversham came close in the first half their striker was put through who rounded Will only to be denied by some heroic defending by Charlie Keyte headering the ball off the line.
Ashdon also had two clear chances in front of goal but was unable to find the back of the net with either.
0-0 half time
Faversham took the lead 10 mins into the 2nd half their winger cutting in and finishing well.
The boys didnt give up and kept battling well across the pitch. We were rewarded midway through the 2nd half, when Juliani’s hard work and cross from the right wing was headed home by Zac Brown off the underside of the bar.
Zac has had an impact on most games this season scoring important goals when called upon and again delivered.
We were reduced to 10 men in the 2nd half after receiving a second yellow card, resulting in a red card.
With 10 mins to play the Faversham striker found himself through 1 on 1 but was denied by Will.
Extra Time both teams created chances but our defence stood strong dealing with most attacks.
In the 2nd half of ET Jack Omans slid through Juliani who brushed off the defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper 1-2
The final whistle eventually went and the boys celebrated their progress to the next round.
Again the boys have shown that they can compete with anyone even with 10 men.
Next round of the cup will be home vs Cray Wanderers
