2nd placed Herne Bay travelled to 4th place Margate in a top of the table clash at Margate Hartsdown ground. The u15s started well initially, but Margate took a deserved lead and had the better of the 1st half to lead 1.0.
The 2nd half saw a much improved Herne Bay and Will Dodd equalised from 25 yards with a superb strike. The away side were now in the ascendancy but an equally impressive Margate free-kick made it 2-1 before some sloppy defending gave Margate a 3-1 cushion. With 10 minutes remaining and still playing with belief, Baileigh Bellem lobbed the keeper with aplomb to make it 2-3 before a frantic final 5 minutes saw Mason Bristow’s cross bundled over the line by Jamie Lartice to make it 3-3. In the last 2 minutes of added time Herne Bay could have sealed all 3 points, forcing a superb stop from their keeper and then hitting the woodwork.
Zac Adkins was superb throughout and was given the MOTM accolade.
Well done all players, great first game to kick off 2022 and excellently officiated throughout.
