Herne Bay vs Whitstable

Sallis steals the Show with Hatrick !

Bay needed a performance in the first local derby to be played in the Kent League and didn't disappoint
Bay started the brighter and put together some nice football without creating many chances in the first period with James Hatton, Joe Theze ( C ) & Ollie Gallantree all linking well in midfield but as in previous weeks with Whistables only venture into the home teams box Bay conceded first, the ball was only cleared to the edge of the box and with Bay slow to react the shot come in Bay keeper Henry Duley could only parry into the path of Whistables left winger and he made no mistake 0-1 Whitstable. The good thing was Bay stepped up unlike previous weeks and camped Whitstable back in their box until the breakthrough came when Ollie Gallantree picked up a loose ball 10yrds out and smashed his shot into the roof of the net 1-1.With Bay on the front foot Gallantree almost grabbed his second with a fierce volley but was thwarted by the near post ( which must be still shaking now), Prince Adu-Boamah then came close his pace took him clear but the Keepers legs just kept the ball out, with all the pressure it was only a matter of time and the second goal for Bay came just before half time, A long throw was flicked on by Cameron Chamberlain and Euan Sallis nipped in between the defender and keeper to head into an empty net 2-1 half time. Bay again started brighter in the second half with Bay's back 3 led by Max Hyde pushing the game up largely untroubled and Lewis Douglas & Ellis Sharman entered the fray to keep the ball moving Douglas feeding some nice through balls into the attackers with Chamberlain coming closest to opening up the deficit but it was Sallis that grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck when a shot was only parried out by The keeper, he pounced to make it 3-1 then within 5 minutes a sliced miskick by his brother ( Jacob ) Whistables right back fell nice for Euan but he still had work to do surrounded by players he raced through and smashed a left foot drive into the top corner to grab his Hatrick for 4-1 and seal the 3 points...Today was what Bay needed man for man won their battles all over the pitch and tried to play neat football on a bobbly surface. Bay travel to Sheppey next week hopefully with the same attitude and desire # COTB

Too add, we had a team building event Friday night at Kent Escape rooms an excellent night was had by all ( it seemed to have worked well ) but we'd like to thank the club for use of the minibus or the party / Banter bus as we've renamed it ?
