Local Derby

Cameron Chamberlain nets four in Derby classic !!

Herne Bay under 15's needed to get back to winning ways after a Lacklustre couple of weeks losing 2-0 to Folkestone & 4-2 to Kennington although leading 2 -0 at half time in the latter ( apologies for lack of reports due to work commitments )

Today was our local Derby and this was pointed out to the players in the dressing room before kick off so enough said !!
The game started with lots of enthusiasm from both teams but it was Bay who controlled the rhythm with Lewis Douglas, Ollie Gallantree & Captain Freddie Kemp linking play really well, The breakthrough came from a free Kick on 10 mins, Max Hyde floated an inviting cross into the box and Cameron Chamberlain timed his run with a glancing header giving the home keeper no chance 1-0 Bay. Whitstable pressed forward but Fin McGrath, Max Hyde & Myles McDonald soaked up the pressure and Bay got a deserved second on the 20 minute mark when good play from James Hatton resulted in a corner Hatton crossed and Gallantree rose highest to flick on and Chamberlain reacted to head home past the on rushing keeper 2-0 Bay. Again Whitstable tried to get back on terms and they got their rewards when Prince adu-Boamah was judged to have tripped their striker in the box and the penalty was dispatched well 2-1.. 30 gone, Previously Bays heads have gone down when conceding but not today and goal of the game was scored just before the break, Fin McGrath won the ball with a tough tackle and then slid a perfect ball into the right channel, Chamberlain beat his defender for pace and tucked the ball into the bottom left hand corner giving the keeper no chance and getting his hatrick before half time 3-1 Bay.
The second half started with Bay's tails up with Euan Sallis causing the Whitstable back line to panic but he couldn't get the run of the ball to increase the scoreline and soon it was Whitstable who started getting into the game a bit more, largely due to Bay shuffling the pack,Bay kept trying to play with Ellis Sharman & Alfie Lewis linking well down the left but the final ball eluded the strikers, Bay did extend their lead when a lovely corner from Ollie Gallantree was met with a bullet header into the top corner from Cameron Chamerlain for his and Bay's fourth 4-1 , Eliseo Sands-Romero nearly added to the tally when Sallis hit the byline and pulled the ball back across the area,Eliseo got in front of his marker but the ball rolled the wrong side of the post. Henry Duley in Bay's goal had been a little busier second half and pulled off a superb point blank save to keep the score down to 4-1 but with 5 mins on the clock Bay didn't clear a through ball down the middle and Whitstable's striker Oscar Hird pounced to get a consolation goal before the final whistle blew. With Bay deserveingly running out 4-2 winners

Chamberlain grabs the headlines but Bay produced a good display all round today and can go into next weeks last game of the season against Dover next Sunday at Winches field 10.30 am. Kick off on a high ! Come watch and cheer the boys on !! #COTB
