Match Report

Here is todays match report.

Herne Bay Under 13’s faced Folkestone Invicta in the reverse fixture from the opening game of the season in which Bay lost 4 -2. Bay got off to a slow start with Folkestone taking an early lead with a finish from close range after Bay goalkeeper Thomas Roberts had made a good save but could not stop the follow up. Herne Bay began to work there way into the game and and soon took control of the midfield area after Folkestone went close and hit the post. Herne Bay’s Kyle Cowell began to cause problems for Folkestone down the left and when Bay had a goal ruled out for offside it was only a matter of minutes after that Bay got back on level terms when the ball was worked to the right hand side where Woody Ebrill centred the ball for Kyle Cowell to finish past the Folkestone keeper.

Second half Herne Bay started well bossing the play and they took the lead early when Kyle Cowell beat the defender to fire past the Folkestone keeper with a great left footed drive to put Bay 2 - 1 up. Seconds later Herne Bay made it 3 -1 when Woody Ebrill was played through and shot over the keeper.

Herne Bay continued to play some great football and should have added to their lead when James Williams hit a great free kick from the right side only for the Folkestone keeper to get across his goal to make push the ball over the crossbar. Folkestone managed to pull one back to make it 3 - 2 but Bay held their nerve and continued to play some great football before the referee called and end to the game.

Herne Bay now look forward to a cup match against Ashford on the 28th.
