Saturday’s draw at Whyteleafe was the first in 11 Isthmian League encounters between the two teams. The previous 10 have been shared with five wins each. The point gained was Herne Bay’s 400th in the Isthmian League (207 at home, 193 away). With nine debuts (six starts and three substitutes), 167 players have now represented Herne Bay in the Isthmian League and 184 in all competitions since 2012/13. Kyron Lightfoot and Zac Ansah became the 68th and 69th players to score for Herne Bay in the Isthmian League and 72nd and 73rd including cups, since 2012/13. All 13 goals scored against Whyteleafe have been by different players. Lightfoot’s goal was the 250th away goal scored in the Isthmian League by Herne Bay. The 178 attendance was the second highest between the two teams at Church Road, there were 184 there in 2014/15 with the lowest being 95 in 2017/18, giving an average of 146. Ben Smith is the first to put a point on the board on their Isthmian League managerial debut for Herne Bay. Simon Halsey (2012/13, home, Tooting & Mitcham United, lost 0-1), Sam Denly (2013/14, home, Guernsey, lost 0-1) and Jermaine Darlington and John Embery (2017/18, home, Lewes, lost 0-1).
