Herne Bay Ladies bowed out of the summer Anchorians 7-a-side tournament at the semi-final stage after a penalty shoot out writes Peter Guise. They never lost a match in open play.

In the group stage the results were as follows:

v Bexhill United D 1-1 Rosie Hague
v Anchorians W 2-0 Jemma Barton (2)
v Gravesham W 1-0 Kate Foster
v Meridian Whites D 0-0

Herne Bay and Bexhill Utd were joint top of the group with identical records and had to have a penalty shoot out to decide who was top and who would be runners up. Bexhill won the penalty shoot out 5-4

In the semi-final Herne Bay played Meridian Reds and despite good chances drew the game 0-0. In the resulting penalty shoot out Meridian Reds won 4-2.

Manager Peter Whittaker said, "We were the best footballing side there today, no-one could beat us in normal time, penalty shoot outs aside, it was a good showing from Herne Bay Ladies today".

Herne Bay Ladies Squad: Katie Reeves, Lauren Harris, Kayleigh Mount, Jemma Barton, Lucy Paige, Rosie Hague, Cara Lockwood, Kate Foster.
