Experienced defender Dan Johnson signs on for next season.

Daniel Johnson has agreed to return to the Bay ahead of the 20/21 season. Johnson returns to the Bay with a wealth of experience from the top levels of Non-league football and played under some of Non-league footballs most respected names. He is a centre back who is also comfortable playing in the full back position if called upon. His previous clubs include National League outfit Bromley during the 17/18 season where he helped them reach their first ever FA Trophy final only to lose at Wembley on penalties, during his time at Bromley Johnson also received a call up to the England C national team. Dan also featured at one of Kent's top non-league clubs featuring for Dartford where he helped the Darts finish just outside the play offs in the 18/19 season. He spent the 19/20 season at Margate managed by Jay Saunders where they finished a respectable 12th. Johnson should be a name familiar to Bay fans as he has already racked up 99 appearances for the club he will bring some very valuable experience to the squad.

On returning to the Bay here is what Johnson had to say: 'When I was contacted by the management team and was shown the project they are building, their plans for the future and the squad of players already here I was excited at the possibility of signing. The club has really progressed from when I was last here which is great to see. So to get everything sorted is really pleasing and I'm excited to get started, meet the players and get going with what I hope will be a very successful season for the Club.'

First team manager Ben Smith said this on securing our 2nd signing of the summer: ' It's fantastic for us to be able to bring a player of DJ's quality to the club. Having already amassed 99 appearances in his first stint here, he is regarded by many Bay supporters as one of the best defenders to represent the club. At only 24, he has a great level of experience, in the National Leagues and with England C. We are getting a highly sought after player that can really add to the quality of our side and someone that is hungry for success. We are delighted that DJ can see what we are trying to do at the club and how far we have already come in the last year. He adds real balance to our side and we feel that he will complement our group really well.'

You can catch Dan's first interview since returning to the club on HBFC-TV in the next week. Welcome back to the Bay DJ!
