Pre Season Fixture

This was Herne Bay’s second pre-season fixture and it proved a tough test as expected, made tougher by the absence of key players, writes Peter Guise, but Sarah Cooper returned in goal and the new recruits played an important part in limiting a Dartford outfit from a division above. An unfortunate error led to the Darts opening goal when a back pass from Lucy Page eluded Cooper ten minutes before the break.

After the turnaround, Bay battled but couldn’t break through the Dartford rear guard and fell further behind from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute. With tiring legs Bay conceded a third 9 minutes from time, this, probably the best and cleanest goal of the match with a rifling shot into the top corner.

Assistant Manager Graham Miller said after the game, “I was thrilled with the work rate and effort today both on and off the ball. We played our game, the right way, passing football and every single players has done their job. I’m proud of the performances today”.
