Finish Their season on a high

Herne Bay end the season on a high

Herne Bay U13 travelled to Faversham Town for the final game of the season knowing that a 4th place finish was already secured while a win for Faversham would take them into 2nd.

Bay started well and straight from the kick off pushed Faversham back into their own half. Devon Mason then centred the ball from wide on the right, only for the ball to beat the keeper and put them 0 - 1 up. The lead was short lived when a through ball put the Faversham forward through and he finished past the Bay keeper for 1 - 1.

Bay continued to push and looked the better side when a scuffed shot from Faversham found it’s way into the net for Faversham to lead 2 - 1. Undeterred Bay continued to push playing some great attacking football. When Devon Mason played a great ball through for Woody Ebrill to beat the defender and place the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper. Bay continued to press making advances down the wide areas when the ball was centred James Williams hit a great right footed volley to beat the keeper and send bay in 2 - 3 up at half time.

Feeling confident Bay knew they had to start the 2nd half well and soon extended the lead when Devon Mason fired the ball into the corner for the goal to lead 2 - 4. Woody Ebrill soon added his 2nd and and Bay’s 5th. With the game looking more and more comfortable Bay never looked like they would lose the game.

Devon Mason soon grabbed his 3rd when Anthony Simes shot was parried onto the post where he pounced on the rebound. Woody Ebrill then completed his Hat-Trick after a poor clearance from the Faversham Goalkeeper and rounded the keeper to slot the ball into an empty net for 2 - 7. Faversham scored a 3rd from a corner for a final score 3 - 7.

A fantastic season for Herne Bay who now looked to play a number of friendlies before heading into the summer break and then pre-season training.

This season has been a great lesson for the boys and they will continue to develop and hopefully represent the senior side in the future.
