Lordswood vs Herne Bay u14s

Lordswood 1 Herne Bay FC 3

Herne Bay U14's travelled to Lordswood to face a side that they had never played against before. Bay started the game nervously and struggled to keep possession and with Lordswood pressing high up the pitch but Lordswood themselves never really caused the Bay defence an major problems. It looked like this was the type of game that any result would have to be ground out and Bay started to cause problems in the wide areas with James Williams and Devon Mason both going close. They both seemed to have the beating of the Lordswood full-backs.

Lordswood went close a couple of times only for Jacob Webb to thwart the attacks we some great saves. Lordswood then took the lead when a shot from outside the area looped up and over Jacob Webb in goal, in which he had no chance in getting to.

Bay continued to find space in between the Central defenders and the Full Backs. After finding the Space again Devon Mason fired across the goal in which the Lordswood keeper couldn't do anything to keep the shot out apart from helping it into the net for 1 - 1.

Bay started the second half much better, competing for every ball and began to play the better football. Woody Ebrill who had led the line excellently manged to get away from the Lordswood defence and with his first real site of goal fired pass the Lordswood keeper for 1 - 2. Bay looked a different side playing further up the pitch but looking solid at the back with Rhys Austin and Anthiny Simes taking control for the central defensive unit.

Bay continued to cause problems for Lordswood and as the game came to a close Alfie Wood hit a long range strike into the top corner giving the keeper no chance and 3 points to the Bay.

Certainly not the best performance from the U14's but once they go going the never looked like they would lose it.

Bay no looked forward to hosting Margate on Sunday 17th.
