Bay vs Hastings

Bay started the day with 10 men but patched up Alfie Greatorex-Smith & Cameron Chamberlain to make up the numbers & without regular goalkeeper Henry Duley, Ollie Gallantree stepped up to take the gloves..Bay started off a bit slow giving Hastings a feel of the ball but gradually grew into the game with Prince Adu-Boamah & Euan Sallis causing the Hastings back line all sorts problems with Adu-Boamah getting the first opportunity his pace and tenacity saw him through one on one but his left foot shot was the wrong side of the post, Sallis then beat his defender but again the shot rolled wide of the post.Chamberlain chipped a through ball on the half hour which Adu-Boamah met but again the target was missed,Hastings were picking up scraps with Ben Coombes and Alfie Lewis both getting the better of their respective wingers, the only attempt musted by Hastings striker went straight into the arms of Gallantree 0-0 half time. The second half again saw Bay start slow but Max Hyde & Myles McDonald at the heart of the defence stood firm and this allowed Harry Jarvis & James Hatton to get on the ball, The breakthrough coming when Jarvis fed Prince Adu-Boamah his pace & trickery found him clear ,he squared the ball back to Euan Sallis who turned onto his left and found the botton corner 1-0 with 60 mins on the clock, Hasting then found another gear but Freddie Kemp made a couple of great challenges and Bay played on the counter, The game looked like being put to bed when Sallis hit a rasping left foot volley but a fingertip save by the away keeper kept Hastings in the match, Myles McDonald was then sin binned ( our first ) after kicking the ball away & Coombes picked up another injury so after a reshuffle Chamberlain slotted in alongside Hyde & Kemp into left back, Bay held out until Hastings striker beat a couple of players and Freddie Kemp covered with a great tackle but the ref judged he caught the player and Gallantree who stood in superbly in goal wasn't given a chance with the spot kick 1-1..Hasting were then down to 10 after another sin bin, this put Bay on the front foot and Sallis saw a blistering volley deflected wide and Chamberlain had a final shot saved in the dying minutes which ended with the final score 1-1... with the squad put out carrying injuries & missing 2 vital players was a gallant effort and as coaches we are proud of the boys effort again today, Well done.
