Herne Bay progressed to the 2nd round of the IWC with an emphatic 2-0 victory over fellow SECWFL side Sittingbourne and the score could have been four times that! Two goals in two first half minutes midway through the opening period from Sophie Gifford and Kate Foster were enough to win the tie. A hatful of chances were spurned in the second period which could have put the game beyond all reasonable doubt. Bay welcomed back Lauren Williams who made her season debut as a second half substitute and she teamed up well with the rest of the midfield pack as Bay surged forward time and time again only to be thwarted by a mixture of outstanding goalkeeping from ‘bourne’s Bronnan Allen and some profligate finishing. It was Bay’s fourth win on the run as this side continues to grow in confidence and gave new manager, Howard Pearce, a debut win.
