When sitting at the top of the table it can be hard to break down defences organised to prevent an onslought. So it proved in this encounter with Cray Valley often having 11 players behind the ball. The introduction of Abigail Duff just before the break made an immediate impact with her left wing run and cross being swept home by Kate Foster. With the visitors' legs tiring in the second 45, Bay made inroads. Lauren Harris scored her 14th of the season 10 minutes after the restart and Jemma Barton added a third with a sweet left foot strike in the 70th but the best was yet to come. Awarded a free kick 25 yards out, Kayleigh Mount stepped up and struck a vicious dead ball into the top left hand corner to open her account for the season, a contender for goal of the season.
"It was very difficult today against a stubborn defence and we will have to expect that now", said manager Peter Whittaker, "some great goals and very comfortable defensively. Kayleigh (Mount) had some great touches and gave a solid base to start attacks, and that free-kick!"
