After two comfortable victories on the pre season road, Bay completed their travelling trio of warm up games with a defeat against the strongest side they have yet played. Godalming Town from the Greater London Women's Football League lost just twice in last season's Division One to gain promotion to the Premier Division of that league. Bay, without several players sidelined by injury and unavailability, were stretched from the first whistle but held on with a superb defensive display. Indeed, they might have taken the lead against the run of play when awarded a spot kick after 35 minutes. Alas, the home 'keeper was up to the task and pushed Kate Foster's 12 yard effort away diving to her left.

A thunderbolt of a shot gave Town the lead early in the second half and despite some forging runs from the returning Emma Brown in midfield, it was mostly the London League side that held sway. The win was sealed with a close range header from a corner from the right in stoppage time, but Bay can be satisified with the afternoon's work, relatively happy in the knowledge that they needed to be tested and still had positives to take from the game with a few pointers as to where they need to look to reinforce the progress made thus far.

"Godalming were a good side today and gave us a tough test", said manager Peter Whittaker, "we needed that reality check".
