Herne Bay Ladies conceded twice in controversial fashion at Winch's Field to stumble to defeat against Carshalton Athletic. The first, after half an hour came from the penalty spot after Kate Foster was adjudged, harshly according to many onlookers, to have brought down a Robins forward in the box. Laura Curtis, a prolific striker for Carshalton in recent years, made no mistake from the spot.
The second major talking point came twenty minutes from time when Herne Bay's defence stopped expecting a whistle to stop the game after Sarah Cooper, the Bay 'keeper, lay injured on the edge of her own six yard box. The whistle never came and Carshalton reacted quickest to stab the ball home.
