Herne Bay cruised to a comfortable win in this pre-season fixture against a talented Addicks second string despite missing several players themselves. At times the slick passing displayed against Gillingham deserted them but two periods of power play, one in each half, were enough to hint at things to come. It was during the first half power play that Harriett Chapman scored what proved to be the winner although several chances were created throughout the game.
Manager Anthony Deer said, "Another tough fixture, but another good run out for the team! Things are slowly beginning to come together, a few new additions to come but fitness levels are improving throughout. Still a few small details to work on but nothing too big! As a team we are beginning to gell on the pitch, trusting each other more which was seen in the amount of chances we created today! A bit of a scrappy second half but we held firm with the back four changing personnel many times we still were hard to break down! Another game Wednesday where we can have a look at a couple of players and have that final push for fitness before next Sunday's league campaign gets underway".
