Herne Bay Ladies vs Aylesford Reserves
League 21st April 2013

Result: Herne Bay Ladies 12 – 0 Aylesford Reserves

Herne Bay Ladies continue the quest for the treble, after winning their second cup during the week it was back to league action today. We travelled to Aylesford today on a glorious sunny day with a few players out due to illness, working and away. But we have depth in this squad, who all worked hard during the heat to get the result that was needed. A Target was set 6 games ago for the remaining 8 games of the season we would need to average 10 goals per game for which the ladies have obliged. The past 6 games we have scored 75 goals and conceded just 2, we still have two more games to go, but the last two games will not be easy and the ladies will need to make sure they focus on each game as it comes.

Today’s game was just the same as other games in the past, it took 15 minutes to settle into the game but once the first goal went in, more followed. Kiya Mills opened the scoring and doubled the lead in minutes of the first one. Kate Foster added a third, Vicky Holness added two and Kiya completed her hat trick just before half time.

With the game won, and the weather getting warmer, the ladies knew that it was only a matter of time before more goals were scored. A freekick for Aylesford saw the only save of the match from Emily Johnson to maintain a clean sheet. A little fact, but Aylesford is the first team we haven’t conceded against at home or away this season. It didn’t take too long to start scoring again Kate Foster got her second, Kiya added her fourth, Isabelle hit a second half hat trick and Vicky Holness scored her third for her hat trick, her 85th of the season and the 200th team goal in all competitions.

We are very close to achieve a quite remarkable season, already winning the KCFA County Plate and Kent Divisional Cup to win the league would be not only great for the ladies but for Herne Bay FC. The ladies know that just winning the two remaining games will secure the league title as Long Lane Reserves can’t catch our superior goal difference.

However, over the past few weeks the ladies have been targets in which they have achieved, they will be given targets for the last two games to keep them focused and interested in the game! But whatever happens between now and the end of the season everyone involved with the ladies team are extremely proud of the achievements they have achieved.
Our next game is London Corinthians Reserves away next Sunday 28th April 2013, a tough fixture but the girls are buzzing and are looking forward to it already.

Team: Emily Johnson, Alice Franks, Rachel Tracy, Enya Lynch, Charlie Hayes, Kate Foster, Lauren Wiltshire, Lesley Kay, Isabelle Tulett, Vicky Holness, Kiya Mills, Natalie Lewis
