Herne Bay Ladies vs Teynham Gunners. League match. 14th April 2013

Result: Herne Bay 13 Teynham Gunners 0

Back to league action today after their cup exploits ten days ago and were feeling fresh and ready for today's challenge. With two games still behind Long Lane Res we still needed to improve our goal difference. This was our last home game at Bell Meadow of the season and to date we have been solid and have not been beaten, a great accomplishment at any level! With no disrespect to Teynham Gunners, they sit bottom of the league and only bought ten players to today's game.

Motivation for the ladies was going to be difficult but once the first goal went in, the goals came thick and fast. Kiya Mills opened the scoring with more goals coming from Chantelle Bleau from the penalty spot, Lesley Kay, kate Foster, Enya Lynch, with Kiya Mills adding her second and a first half hat trick from Vicky Holness, who now has 80 goals for the season in all competitions! With the pick of the goals coming from Enya Lynch, a 60 yard strike in which the keeper missed and a delightful lob from the ever composed Lesley Kay.

With Teynham having only 10 players they didn't threaten our goal at all with Emily Johnson only actually touching the ball no more than three times in the entire match. However, the back four kept strong and were influential in the build up play with decisive passing for the front runners.

With it being 9-0 at half time, the second half was even harder to motivate the players as the job was only half done although a first half hammering was clear, a clean sheet was crucial and more goals were needed, I made a few changes at half time keeping the players fresh and ensuring players did not get injured in preparation of our cup final Wednesday. The ladies pressed on and created more chances playing some good football.

Although we didn't score as many goals than the first half, we were always on the attack with Teynham seemingly just kicking the ball out wherever and whenever they could get the chance to. Kiya Mills completed her hat trick with Kate Foster and Lesley Kay both betting their seconds of the game. Isabelle Tulett finished the scoring with our 150th goal of the league campaign! A mile stone any team would be proud of! The job was done and now our attention turns to this weeks cup final at the Gallagher stadium at Maidstone, against Ridgewaye, a game we can not take lightly! To get our second piece of silverware in our first season would be fantastic stuff, but we will ensure we stay focused with each game we play!

Three more league games to play with Aylesford res away next Sunday, London Corinthians the following week and our final game against Anchorians 2nd in the 12th May!

Team: Emily Johnson, Chantelle Bleau, Rachel Tracy, Charlie Hayes, Shona Clark, Lauren Wiltshire, Lesley Kay, Kate Foster, Vicky Holness, Kiya Mills, Natalie Lewis, Clare Brown, Isabelle Tulett
