Bay hang on to 100% record

A very professional and well deserved victory against Old Anchorians 2nds played at Bell Meadow. The ladies began the game working out how the opposition played and were patient throughout the half with some slick passing and great movement from all. The ladies are beginning to believe in their own ability and confidence is rifling through each player and this is showing by the team playing football on the floor rather than ‘hoofing’ the ball forward without any purpose.

Two, three touch football from the back to the front is causing many teams problems and so much so that Vicky Holness scored two goals in two minutes, one with her head, the second, a shot across the goalkeeper. The ladies are not panicking on the ball as much as in previous matches and have the self belief to control, be composed and pass the ball with accuracy and quality to each other. Taking all this in to account, a great through ball played from the midfield pairing of Shona Clark and Lauren Wiltshire to Kiya Mills who took her goal very well.

The back four of Chantelle Bleau, Rachel Tracy, Enya Lynch and Clare Brown were immense today and showed their understanding from Thursday’s training session of defensive shape and support, on the pitch! A freak mistake gave Old Anchorians a small life line just before halftime; however the second half was dominated by Herne Bay ladies and if it wasn’t for the goalkeeper, who was their player of the match, the score line could and should have been a lot more. The defence stopped any attacks going forward and dealt with everything calmly and confidently. The ladies continued to play neat, tidy football and were rewarded with two more goals, one from Kiya Mills and one from Vicky Holness, a solo effort starting at the half way line with the ball calmly slotted past the goalkeeper. The final score finished 5-1. Like I said at the beginning, a very professional and well disciplined performance from each player. Each player is beginning to understand the roles and responsibilities of each role.

Defenders were defensively precise with great shape, midfielders were creating and tracking back when needed and the front line was causing all sorts of problems for the opposition. A very pleasing performance with another 3 points as reward for some very good football played from a maturing young team. 7 out of 7 games now won with some big fixtures coming up in the next month that could determine our first season’s success. Our next game is at Home to Thanet Colts. Bell Meadow, St Nicholas at Wade, 2:00pm KO. Come and show your support and see how well these young ladies are developing into a very good team.
