After a slow start I thought we were outstanding. 70% of the game we were totally dominant. Generally, they (Guernsey) are a technically gifted side that keep good possession of the ball. Once we got a goal, we beat them at their own game.
They were always going to start the second half well, always trying to catch you. Everything is in their favour when you travel over to them, but today we were brave on the ball. After we went a goal down, we showed some bravery and moved the ball well. The penalty against us was very soft, but we showed character then at 3-2. Suddenly you heard their crowd, you didn’t hear them up until then, and then they were pushing, and we stayed disciplined and made sure that we didn’t give any more mistakes away.
Callum (Adonis-Taylor) recovered well from giving the penalty away and showed great character, it was a good learning curve for him as a young lad. We are full of confidence at the moment. A home and away double, lovely, there are a good side so to do the double over them, we’ve done well. I thought we had a better balance to our side than they did, which was similar to the first game. The players were down last week, losing after such a good run was disappointing, especially their goal, we knew it wasn’t going to be our day. To bounce back with three points puts us back in the mix again and with other results going our way it has been a good day all round.
Bola (Dawodu) and DL (Danny Lawrence) had to come off so could be doubts for next week, Chichester and Hastings. We had lads come on, Saundo (Chris Saunders) and Carra (Dan Carrington) worked their socks off in the middle, so if we have players missing there are like-for-like changes we are looking at.
