Herne Bay suffered their first defeat on the road ,going down 3-2 to Molesey, in fairness to Molesey they deserved the win but it was a close run game. For the second week running Herne Bay failed to keep 11 men on the field ,Danny Walder was ordered off for a reckless tackle in the 41st. minute shortly after getting the Bay back into the game with a well struck penalty.

For the first 20 minutes Molesey out played the Bay ,cutting through the defence like “knife through butter” In the 5th minute Molesey’s Reis Stanislaus chested the ball down to James McShane who shimmied through and slammed the ball past Jack Delo. Within 5 more minutes the Bay were 2-0 down after Giorgio Russo lost the ball out on the left to McShane who danced through the Bay defence to slot in.

Jack Delo was on his toes a few minutes later saving well from Tom Windsor and Sam Robinson. Counter attacks were few and far between from the Bay and when they did Molesey’s Craig Lewington and Ollie Robinson cleared all danger. On 25 minutes following a foul on Danny Walder ,Sam Hasler fired in from 25 yards but straight at Liam Allen in the Molesy goal. At last Herne Bay woke up and started getting in to the game and on 27 minutes debutant Frannie Collin fired in a thumping shot but it was cleared off the line by Craig Lewington. Herne Bay continued to press and on 41 minutes Molesey’s Ross Chalke handled the ball in the area, the Ref. Mr.G.Warren pointed to the spot, up stepped Danny Walder who slammed the ball home.

A minute later Danny Walder saw red when he made a reckless tackle in the middle of the park. With Half time nearing the Bay pushed on with Giorgio Russo charging down the right but he was up ended by Luke Elliot, 25yds. out, from the resulting free kick Sam Hasler blasted in to give Allen no chance. With only seconds left Molesey almost went back in front when Ollie Robinson headed against the cross bar following a corner.

10 man Herne Bay were first on the attack in the second half and on 50 minutes a Sam Hasler corner found Frannie Collin’s head but Liam Allen pulled off a great save to deny him . 5 minutes later Jack Delo saved equally well getting down low to stop a James Cottee shot.

Kane Phillip started to link up well with Collin and on 75 minutes ,after a good run and cross he found Frannie Collin but his goal bound shot was cleared off the line by Ollie Robinson. 2 minutes later Molesey pushed everyone up for a corner and Ollie Robinson climbed above everyone to head past Jack Delo. Bay went forward looking for an equaliser and on 85 minutes once again it was Collin that was unlucky to see his effort well saved by Liam Allen. Herne Bay continued to push forward but could not find a way past a resolute Molesey defence

“We were poor first half but we were so much better second half”, said Denly, “it’s frustrating to lose from a set piece even when you’ve only got ten men, that’s just schoolboy. My main concern was that we didn’t start, we gave them too much of the ball, we pride ourselves on our back four and for whatever reason we wasn’t at it first half. We showed great character getting back into the game”.

Herne Bay: Jack Delo, Dan Johnson, Georgio Russo (Gary Sayer 55), Nathan Eastwood, Dan Parkinson (Joe Nelder 85), Danny Walder, Kane Butler (Kane Phillip 55), Mark Lovell, Frannie Collin, Sam Hasler.
