Ray Kelly writes: Although Herne Bay lost the F.A.Trophy replay at Harrow the 3-0 scoreline rather flattered Boro. In a game very similar to Saturday’s tie at Winch’s field, both teams went on the attack from the kick off. The first chance fell to Bay in the 4th minute when they were awarded a free kick 40 yards out, Danny Walder's kick was collected by Danny Williams who spun and shot but his effort was well saved by Boro' keeper Luke Williams. The play was very much end to end with both defences standing their ground but on 16 minutes a long clearance from Luke Williams was picked up by Marc Charles –Smith who ran through the Bay defence and slammed the ball past Jack Delo. Harrow went looking for another goal and surged forward, forcing Herne Bay deep into their own half. Good chances fell to Ibraham Meite and Michael Bryan but they could not convert. In the final 15 minutes of the first half Herne Bay started to battle back with Kane Phillip, Danny Williams and Mark Lovell all making inroads into the Harrow defence but the final ball let them down and were unable to breach the Boro defence.

Herne Bay started the second half well on top and on 50 minutes had the ball in the net but the referee ruled the ‘goal’ out for hand ball much to every ones surprise . A minute later Joe Nelder surged through the Boro defence and was blatantly scythed down in the penalty area but the referee waived play on. On the hour mark Harrow Boro upped the pace and started to get on top and came close to extending the lead when a Michael Bryan shot was headed off the line by Michael Turner but a minute later Bay almost restored parity when a Danny Walder free kick was tipped over the bar by Williams in the Boro goal. On 64 minutes, against the run of play, Ibraham Meite increased the lead when he took on the whole defence before thumping the ball past Jack Delo. This knocked the stuffing out of the Bay and within two minutes Harry Newman made it 3-0 after a cross from David Taylor. Just before the final whistle Jack Delo made a great save from point blank range to prevent Charles – Smith from increasing the lead.

Herne Bay must take a lot of credit from these two matches against a Premier Division side and over the two games the Bay looked the better side for long periods of these matches.
