Pre Season Fixture

For Herne Bay’s second warm-up fixture for the forthcoming campaign they visited the excellent facilities of River Lane, home of Leatherhead Town Youth Football Club, to take on Ryman Premier Leatherhead Town. There was a first showing for new striker Stuart Zanone but too often he was left isolated alone up front, even with Darren Marsden supporting as a trialist. Most of Bay’s play was down the middle with little width to stretch the Tanners’ defence and provide opportunities for Zanone. Indeed the Leatherhead goalkeeper did not have a single shot to save. It’s early days, and there were some fine individual performances, but as whole, the squad has a way to go before they are ready for the competitive season.
