Hi Sam

Here is the match report for today.

Herne Bay Take on Canterbury City

Herne Bay FC Under 13’s looked to continue their recent run of good results. Bay where without a couple of players from the squad due to injury but started the game with high confidence. Canterbury showed their intentions early on looking to press Bay at every moment. Herne Bay looked to create chances by exploiting spaces in the wide areas and Bay took an early lead when they were awarded a penalty. Woody Ebrill stepped up to fire past the Canterbury keeper for 1 - 0. Canterbury created a few chances but either fired wide or found Jacob Webb on good form to stop them. Luke Harvey made it 2 - 0 to Herne Bay when he headed in at the far post from a Devon Mason cross. Devon continued to cause problems when he found Woody Ebrill in the penalty area only for Woody to be brought down for an another penalty. Woody Ebrill picked himself up off the floor to take the penalty and to make 3 - 0 to Herne Bay. Bay continued to play but never really played to the level of football that we have come to expect of them in recent weeks however Woody Ebrill did complete he hat trick with a close range finish. Just before half time Canterbury broke away to grab a goal back to make it 4 - 1 to Herne Bay at half time.

The second half started in the same manor as the first, with Herne Bay looking to exploit space and created a number of chances but failed to take them. Kyle Cowell was unlucky when the ball was switched from right to left, with him controlling the ball well and firing a firm drive into the far corner only to be waved offside. Canterbury then scored two quick goals in response to make the score 4 - 3 to Herne Bay.

The game closed out with a 4 -3 win to Herne Bay and the side move to 2nd in the league and this side continue to surpass the expectations from the start of the season.
