Alfie Greatorex- Smith Double seals victory !!

Alfie Greatorex- Smith Double seals victory !!

Herne Bay U15's had to play a reversed fixture at Dover's tilmanstone welfare ground due to no home pitch being available but they didn't let the bobbly pitch and wind and hail stones effect them at all..Bay came out of the blocks as they'd left off last week with Euan Sallis hitting a left foot shot which the keeper parried back out then Cameron Chamberlain drove a right foot shot back which the keeper was again up to and saved well, Bay were in control with Prince Adu-Boamah on the right leaving the defence baffled by his skill but the final ball wouldn't fall for the strikers. Freddie Kemp again was producing superb balls into space behind the Dover back four but the finish eluded Bay until 5 minutes before the break when Euan Sallis lined up to take a rehearsed free kick from 25yards out, the wall jumped as Sallis slid the ball wide right to Ollie Gallantree he then chipped a lovely cross to the far post and Alfie Greatorex-Smith was on hand to tap in for 1-0 at the break
Bay again started on the front foot in the second half and with Myles McDonald winning the Ariel duels in the middle of the park it freed up Lewis Douglas to feed the strikers and Sallis hoped to add to his impressive league tally as he broke clear but his right foot shot went a yard wide, Alfie Lewis, Max Hyde & Alex Redman soaked up a couple of minutes of Dover pressure before Bay upped the ante with a second well worked goal, Max Hyde played a long ball up to the edge of the Box, Lewis Douglas watched it drop and with a deft back heel flick he found Alfie Greatorex-Smith, Smith looked up to see the keeper a yard off his line and placed a superb lob with precision into the roof of the net 2-0 Bay, a minute later Smith with his confidence up skinned 3 players down the left and saw his shot saved at the near post.
Dover battled in the middle of the park and their big playmaker No14 landed awkward on his neck, Due to his injury an ambulance was called and the game abandoned...Jo ( female referee) was excellent throughout but especially with the injured boy.
Enough minutes were on the clock for Bay to be awarded the 2-0 result and we all wish the lad a speedy recovery
