Faversham Away Andy Chamberlain writes ...

Herne Bay were up for their first away match of the season against a confident Faversham Town at the Shepherd Neame Stadium
Faversham started the brighter in the first 5 mins but Bay soaked up the pressure and started to edge their way into the game,Prince Adu- Boamah was again Bay's threat down the right wing but this week Alfie Greatorex-Smith was also causing problems down the left and the scoring was opened in style when Smith lobbed the ball back from the byline and Cameron Chamberlain facing away from goal executed the perfect overhead kick from the edge of the box into the top corner 1-0 to the Bay on 15 mins.Bay are always vulnerable after scoring and within a few minutes Faversham pulled a goal back their pacey winger creating space and setting up the Faversham number 10 to slot home 1-1.Bay were controlling the game with Lewis Douglas, Ollie Gallantree and Joe Theze playing some nice one touch football in the middle of the park, The breakthrough came from a Gallantree corner, Faversham failed to clear after a bit of pinball in the box and Bay striker Euan Sallis was on hand with his trusty left foot to smash the ball home from 8 yards 2-1 to the Bay..Elisio Sands-Romero had to use his defensive naus to keep the quick winger at bay with the help of Max Hyde sweeping up,this worked until the break and Bay went in 2-1 up.Bay introduced James Hatton and Alex Redman at half time and it was Hatton who found himself free early on but his attempt was straight a the relieved Faversham Keeper, Bay seemed to have more energy and played some excellent football and it was a move from left back that made the third Bay goal, Alex Redman found Alfie Gretorex-Smith who played a one two with Gallantree and then sent Gallentree in to the corner, He whipped a cross into the near post and Cameron Chamberlain chested the ball into the bottom corner 3-1 to the Bay .Faversham hadn't finished and moved the winger up top and again his pace was too much and he finished Cooley into the bottom corner for 3-2. Freddie Kemp was introduced by Bay to calm things down and he was involved in Bay's fourth goal setting Sallis free his fierce shot was saved and rebounded back to Cameron Chamberlain who gladly picked up his second hatrick in three weeks and 8th in three matches with his left foot 4-2 to the Bay.Henry Duley in Bay's goal was in good form but unable to stop a direct free kick on the edge of the box 10 minutes from time which left for a nervy last ten but with Fin McGrath and the immense Max Hyde at the back with Redman they rode the storm even though Faversham hit the inside of Duley's far post with barely time on the clock.Bay finished worthy 4-3 winners but Faversham gave it a good go and made the game entertaining yet again for the supporters ( not so much the Bay coaches nerves ) but well done to both teams and we now look forward to Sheppey at Home on the 7th October @ Herne Bay High School 10.30am K.O. ( all welcome ) UP THE UNBEATEN BAY !!
