Match Report

Herne Bay started sluggish in the first ten minutes of their second home game of the season.Hollands & Blair had the upper hand and created a couple of early opportunities but Bay's back 3 of Max Hyde , Fin McGrath and Alex Redman soaked up the pressure,Prince Adu-Boamah was Bay's main threat down the right wing and came close on two occasions using his pace a trickery to get clear but the finish eluded him.On 25 mins Hollands took the deserved lead creating space from a throw and and their striker fired into the bottom corner 0-1.Bay seemed to respond to going a goal down with Euan Sallis and Ollie Gallantree both going close and it was Sallis who grabbed the equaliser after a lovely through ball from Joe Theze,Sallis firing into the bottom left corner with the outside of his left foot 1-1..Henry Duley in the Bay goal kept Bay in it just before half time after a short back pass let in the Hollands front man but Duley was equal to the strike and parried wide..1-1 HT.. Alfie Greatorex-Smith and Gallentree grew into the second half quickly and chances were created for Sallis and Gallantree respectively but the deadlock was broken with the introduction of James Hatton he found Euan Sallis down the left Sallis cut in and his strike rebounded back into his path and second attempt he didn't miss tucking the ball in the right hand corner 2-1. Bay now had their tails up and were was using the width on the left well and it was Sallis again down the left crossing to the far post Gallantree kept the ball in play and crossed back across goal for Cameron Chamberlain to flick the ball in with the outside of his right foot from close range 3-1.As in the previous week Bay immediately conceded a sloppy goal when a long Hollands ball into the box rebounded and their No10 finished from close range. Lewis Douglas and Ellis Sharman were brought on to shore the midfield up which kept Bay on the front foot with numerous half chances / chances not taken until Cameron Chamberlain was put clean through by Hatton and he calmly side footed past the Keeper for his double and Bay's fourth and a bit of breathing space.Hollands had to push forward and Elisio Sands-Romero was switched to right back to absorb some of the pressure, Bay stood firm to grab all 3 points and their first win of hopefully many in the Kent League..Again well done to both teams the game although scrappy at times was entertaining to watch.
