Herne Bay U23 lost 2-6 away at Sheppey United in the SCEFL Development League East. With three matches remaining Bay are in eighth place from 11 in a league which contains teams from clubs whose first teams play at a higher level – Maidstone United, Chatham Town and Margate. Herne Bay have won six, drawn one and lost ten from their 17 matches. After a two-season absence the club had re-introduced an Under 23s Development side.

Tuesday 19/03/2024.
The first team were without a mid-week match. Bay’s next opponents, Sevenoaks Town, drew 2-2 away at Broadbridge Heath whilst the next mid-week opponents, Hythe Town, won 3-2 away at East Grinstead Town – Herne Bay’s opponents at Winch’s Field a week on Saturday. There were five matches played and Bay remained in seventh place.

Thursday 21/03/2024.
The weather-related postponements had caught up with Hythe Town as the first Thursday game in the Isthmian League Division One South East this season was played. Hythe lost 1-2 at home to bottom side Beckenham Town.

Saturday 23/03/2024.
For the second week running Herne Bay Over 45’s opponents in the Kent Masters Conference failed to raise a team. Bourne Ravens pulled out of the fixture. In its inaugural season, the competition, run by the Kent FA, was ‘friendly’ and failing to fulfil a fixture was allowed. Champions-elect Herne Bay will now need to wait to see when their two outstanding fixtures will be played. Bay need to win one of them to draw level on points with leaders Whitstable Town who have a ten goal inferior goal difference and have completed their games.

Saturday 23/03/2024.
Herne Bay Firsts winless run was extended to five games (three draws, two defeats) following a 1-2 home loss to Sevenoaks Town in the Isthmian League Division One South East. Bay stayed in seventh place, three points behind the team above them, Three Bridges and six points outside the play-off places, albeit the sides in fourth and fifth had played a game more. Herne Bay still have seven matches to play, three at home and four away.

Herne Bay U13s drew 1-1 with Hastings United in the Kent Youth League Under 13s East. Herne Bay have completed their fixtures and are 11 points ahead of second place Margate and third place Ramsgate who both have two games to play. Neither Margate or Ramsgate can catch Bay but fourth place Hastings United are well behind with their fixtures and still have six matches left, and are 12 points behind. Their remaining games include Ramsgate twice and Margate once. Hastings have fixtures scheduled up to the middle of May so the outcome of this Division might not be known for a while.

Herne Bay lost 4-1 to Hastings United at Winch’s Field in the Kent Youth League Under 14s South.

Sittingbourne came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Herne Bay in the Kent Youth League Under 15s East. With one game still to play Herne Bay lead second place Minster, who have two matches in hand, by eight points. A win for Herne Bay in their last match or defeat for Minster in any of their remaining three and Bay will be champions.
