Kings Hill Strollers (1) 1

On a very wet evening at Bay Point Herne Bay's walking football team took on the Kings Hill Strollers from Maidstone in the Kent Walking Football League, writes Ron Boddy. The teams played 6-a-side under the new FA Walking Football rules and, despite the scoreline, it was a quite tight match from start to finish. Herne Bay's clinical finishing was the difference between the two sides. On 6 minutes Neil Brown opened the scoring with a crisp shot from close in. However Herne Bay's lead was short lived as Kings Hill struck back with an equaliser after 11 minutes. The play continued to swing from end to end. In the 15th minute Neil Davey put Herne Bay back in front with a typical hard shot from an angle.

The second half started in the same fashion. After 23 minutes Trevor Brown struck a hard shot which the Kings Hill goalkeeper could only parry out to the feet of David Gilham who shot back past him. After 33 minutes another quick strike by Herne Bay saw them go 4 - 1 up when Neil Brown scored his second of the match.

Team: Nick Denly, Trevor Brown, Harry Roberts, Neil Brown, Clive Parker, Neil Davey, David Gilham, Malcolm Wright, Steven Johnson.
