Skipper sidelined

Herne Bay Ladies skipper, Kate Foster, will be sidelined for up to six to eight months after she suffered an unfortunate fracture of a femur ten minutes into the second half of the L&SERWFL League Cup match at Winch's Field on Sunday against Camden Town.

Kate fell heavily and was immediately attended to. By a stroke of luck, one of the Camden Town team was a paramedic and the emergency services were summoned immediately. The first responder paramedic arrived promptly and was able to make a quick assessment and called for an ambulance. With Kate Foster now in good hands, and stretchered away from the pitch, now enjoying pain relief administered by the first responder, the match resumed and the remaining 35 minutes completed just as the ambulance crew arrived and conveyed the Bay skipper to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Kate Foster later said on social media, "Gutted! I have broken my femur by the knee joint, also done my ligament on the side and also think my ACL (anterial cruciate ligament), got to go back in 2 weeks and they will do a MRI!"

This is not the first time Foster has suffered an injury on the field of play requiring attention from an ambulance crew in the five years she has been an integral part of the Herne Bay Ladies set up. Kate gives her all for the team and all of the Herne Bay FC football family wish her the best for a speedy as possible recovery.
