Herne Bay welcomed new signing Taser Hassan for Saturday's home game against Horsham at Winch's Field and he came off the bench nine minutes into the second half to make his debut.

Wide midfielder Taser Hassan had made 19 appearances for Canterbury City this season, scoring twice, writes Steve Barton. A product of the Nike Academy he was on Portsmouth’s books and also part of Gillingham’s youth system before spending six months in Brazil with Atletico Paranaense and then earned a short-term professional contract with Huddersfield Town in February 2010. He joined Hythe Town in the early stages of the 2011/12 campaign, helping them to an eighth-place finish in Ryman Division One South. A season of eye-catching displays helped him earn an ultimately unsuccessful trial with MLS outfit LA Galaxy, where David Beckham was still plying his trade, and a full time move to Turkish lower league football. He joined Hastings United in March 2014 from Hythe Town and scored five goals in 56 appearances before leaving for personal reasons in February 2015 and joined Erith & Belvedere. He signed for Faversham Town at the beginning of the last campaign before returning to his former club Hythe Town in September 2015 and then Whitstable Town in December 2015. His father, Tamer, is a well-known face in the movie industry; famed for his hard-man roles in films like The Business and Football Factory alongside Danny Dyer, as well as a stint as co-chairman of Greenwich Borough.

"Tass is an excellent talent and a player I have wanted to sign for a while", said Herne Bay manager Sam Denly, "he is skillfull and pacey and will be a great addition to the squad. All being well Taser is the first of a couple of signings I will be adding to the squad over the next few weeks".
